Buh-Bye, Diapers…

The past month has been a big one for Miss H… First there was the pacie detox (2 weeks, going strong!!) and now there is the potty training. Yes, for real this time.

Apart from naps and night time, Hadley spent the weekend in big girl panties. Yes, there were accidents, but there was also a major breakthrough.

You see, we trained Knox 100% on the M&M reward system. Say what you will about candy rewards, all I know is it worked like a charm and I have no regrets.

So naturally we tried the same thing with H, but it just wasn’t taking… So I randomly decided to try a different approach this past weekend. You know the junk jewelry section at Children’s Place? Well I picked up several goodies from there to serve as potty bribery…

OMG. Let’s just say Hadley is not a flowers and chocolate kind of girl… She likes the bling!

Before we knew it she was telling us she needed to go potty and taking it upon herself to go.

Plastic jewelry… Who knew?

We now have a stash of the tackiest, sparkliest, gaudiest, jewelry and accessories sitting on the window sill just for potty bribery. (Spoiled.)

Once again, say what you will about my bribery tactics, but they work!

I sent Miss Priss to school today in panties for the FIRST TIME EVER. I also sent 37 changes of clothes because I was sure it was going to be a disaster…

Imagine my surprise when I picked her up today and she’d had ZERO accidents! So proud of my big girl. Although a part of me wasn’t surprised at all. I’ve learned to expect the unexpected with this girl. She’s always 3 steps ahead of where we think she is, so I kind of expected her to be perfect for her teachers.

So… After FIVE solid years of diapering, it looks like I’m finally catching a break!

And y’all. Between the NICU and and staying at home with 2 kids, I feel like I’ve been living my life in a giant diaper for the past half decade, so this is big.

:)

Way to go Hadley!! It's been nice at our house to be officially out of pull-ups.
