This girl --->
As of the 20th, is officially 18 months old! I posted these pics last week and promised to do her update, so here it is.
- 32 inches (60%)
- 23 pounds (30%)
- Size 18mo or 18-24mo clothing, depending on what it is.
- Size 4 diaper.
- Size 5 shoe. 6 if it runs small.
Hadley…
You are a HAPPY girl! Seriously. Unless you’re overtired or hungry, you’re in a good mood. You find someone to flirt with everywhere we go. And you’re constantly making us laugh with your silly little spirit. I love it! Although…
You’re getting better at throwing I-didn’t-get-my-way tantrums…) You HATE to hear the word NO. Especially from Daddy. No matter what words he uses or how nicely he says it, your eyes whelp up with big crocodile tears and you get the most pitiful looking face. Absolutely ridiculous. Needless to say, you’re a Daddy’s girl through-and-through. The first thing you say in the morning is “Hey Mama, where’s DaDa???”
You speak in 3-4+ word sentences on a regular basis and you understand complex sentences. We can tell you to do something and you do it. I think your communication skills are so advanced!
Some of the things you say (off the top of my head)
- Stop that, Mama, STOP THAT! You hear me tell Knox this. A lot.
- Please… and I need____ and Thank you!
- Night-night, Mama. Love you! or Bye-bye, Love you! (You even say that to people at the store when we leave!)
- Uh-oh, here ya go!
- Hey, mama - I need water. Just an example.
You are SO smart. You learn by watching us. You surprise me everyday by doing something we never taught you, but you’ve seen us do. You can count to 5 (and try to go to 10) and can sing several songs. You know where things go and you LOVE clean. You sing Keeen-UP-Keeen-UP… You also love to help me in the kitchen. You scoot a chair over to the counter and say “I help, Mama! I help!”
You got your first princess dresses for your 18mo birthday! The ones at Target always look huge but I found some that looked small enough at Home Goods.
You eat just like a big girl with a spoon/fork and napkin. You get offended if we give you a sippy cup with a spout. You want the Coolster top just like Knox. You eat most anything. Current favorites are bananas, peas, Nutri-Grain bars, yogurt, and Motts for Tots fruit snacks.
You sleep well at night and take a 2-3 hour nap during the day. I’m expecting you to learn how to climb out of your crib any day now…
You love bath time. And LOVE primping. Anything from getting dressed to changing your shoes to hanging out with me in the bathroom and stealing my make-up and hair supplies. You are obsessed. You also like to help me dress Knox. You will go to his drawers, pull out socks and clothes, and say “He-ya-go, Mama!”
You can put your shoes and socks on, and take most of your clothes off on your own. You’re getting close to being able to put them on by yourself too. And every morning you remind me to put on your bow. Pretty soon you won’t even need me.
I said we’d try to cut-off the pacie at a year, and go NO MORE than 18 months. Mainly because I know the older you get the harder it will be to break... I’ve let you have these past 6 months with it, but now it’s going bye-bye for real. You’ve been without it cold-turkey for over TWO weeks now! The hardest part was putting you down for bed. I’ve been SO tempted to just let you have several times, but we’ve stayed strong.
You’re very interested in the potty. You tell me when you’re wet or dirty and most of the time will take your pants off and bring me a diaper.
You climb. And climb, and climb, and climb… It’s a work-out just chasing you off of things all day long. You’ve learned how to push little chairs over to big chairs and use them to climb on to tables and counters. (Which you’re not afraid to stand up on.) There’s no such thing as baby proofed in our house.
You love Elmo! You love your babies. And lately you’ve really taken a liking to doggies. The police K-9 unit came to visit school a few weeks ago and your teachers said you fell in love with a huge German Shepherd. All you wanted to do was love on him… You get so excited whenever we see one. You say “Awwww, Hi doggie! HI!” And if it’s a picture you will kiss it.
Knox is your favorite play mate. You love school and your teachers adore you. They say you play well and are very social, but when you’re out with me around other kids (like at birthday parties) you stick to me like glue. You’re not shy but it’s almost like you think you’re too much of a big girl to play with them… Such a character.
The last update I did was 15 months. In these past 3 months…
- You’ve had 2 laser treatments that required you to be put to sleep.
- You rediscovered and fell in love with the pool.
- You got your first piece of Tiffany’s jewelry.
- You LOVE playing outside and after ruining a few pairs of shoes you’ve made me realize that maybe you DO need a pair of ugly pair of sneakers…
I adore your big blue eyes and dirty blonde hair that’s really starting to come in thicker and curl up in the back. You are so fun to dress up, I’m glad you like it too :) Your sweet nature and contagious little grin pull it all together just perfectly. You are gorgeous, inside AND out!

Happy 18 months Hadley. She is just to cute for words!
Happy 18 months! I think it is too cute that she likes to help dress her big brother! haha :)
Love reading about Hadley. She is precious!!
Precious! She is the exact height and weight as my daughter, charlotte....they are 1 week apart, but we got different percentiles from our doctor.... Weird. Hope you settle in quickly:)
I'm going to go with your's percentiles since you can double check them!:) I know there is an updated percentile chart that excludes 3rd world countries and makes the medians more accurate for "western/modernized" countries... in Dallas we went to a young/newer pediatrician and I think he used those charts and probably what you have.... here we go to an older pediatrician, so maybe he's using the older charts...??? Who knows!? Healthy kids... all that really matters:)
Maybe that's it! But you're right - healthy girls, so it doesn't matter either way, I was just curious :)
She's precious! I found your blog via Becky's (I think) and as a TX implant myself thought I'd say hi and click that follow button.
H is so gorgeous and I love, love, love all the hair bows!
