James and I were so tired Friday night. The first week back to reality has been a loooong one for both of us. We put Knox to bed as soon as we could. Hadley had a late nap and was fighting bedtime hard. We finally let her hang out with us while we had a date night movie and snack… We had crab cake, and she LOVED it. She thought she was such the big girl being able to stay up with Mommy and Daddy. Something so simple, but it made her little world. Her proud smile made it so worth it!
This pillowcase dress is the first thing I ever made her, and now she’s wearing it as a shirt! Another Hadley random - she has a new love… Mel-mo. (As in Elmo.) I die from the cuteness every time she says it like that!
Saturday morning I took the kids to a birthday party. It was for a little boy in Knox’s class but there we several siblings Hadley’s age there, so they both had fun.
H surprised me by climbing all the way up the play-scape! Of course eventually I had to go up there after her and show her how to use the slide to get down. Always fun…
After the party James and I did some home improvement. He cut the grass, sprayed the weeds, mulched, and re-stained the fence and wood accents on the house. I helped too - I weeded the flower beds…
James made sure to work in plenty of jabs over the pristine clean/never used gardening gloves I begged for 2 years ago. What can I say… I do many, many things. Yard work is not one of them.
But at least the house looks much cleaner! Inside AND out. I finally got the Christmas decorations packed away Wednesday night, so I spent Thursday and Friday purging junk, rearranging and decorating, and just cleaning and scrubbing everything. Feels so much better. I even printed out a bunch of new pictures, so I’m working on updating all of our frames…
So glad I’m finally doing this. I think before we probably had a total of 3 pictures of Hadley and they were all newborn.
Oh, and sorry, I feel like this post is all over the place, but I made this recipe for French Dip Sandwiches in the crockpot the other day...
It was SO good! I want to remember it for the next time we entertain or have company in town.
We got rid of our DirectTV months ago. We just didn’t feel like we used it enough with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon On-Demand movies… I honestly haven’t really missed it. James and I usually sit down every night and either catch-up on shows or find something on Netflix. Saturday night we watched the Justin Bieber Never Say Never movie…
…
Are you done laughing, now??? Ha! I actually kind of liked it. He is truly a talented little guy and seems to have such a sweet heart. I hope he never loses that! (But GAH he makes me feel OLD.)
James and I both agree… Hadley will NEVER be one of those crazy, obsessive girls professing her love to some pop star by lip-syncing on YouTube. I won’t let her. Scary how much “access” kids have these days between the internet and iPhones. I’m not THAT old, but it’s so different now from even when I was in high school. I’m pretty terrified over what it will be like when Knox and Hadley are teenagers… So y’all be my witness - our kids will never have computers/web cams in their rooms.
James had to do trial prep all day downtown on Sunday, so the kids and I just stayed home. I did a little more cleaning and re-decorating… Same goes for today! Hadley is napping now but when she wakes up we’ll probably venture out to Target for some groceries. So exciting :)

I have kind of caught the Bieber fever, too. (So embarrassing!) He is precious and seems so sweet.
Your house looks beautiful and I love Hadley's custom outfit.
I am like this too at the beginning of the year, I just purge my everything in my house. I do it yearly so I guess it goes to show I acquire too much over the course of a year! Oh, and I am terrified of what my kids will one day do or say on the internet! It's kind of scary that everything is at their fingertips, instant gratification with whatever they want. So different than when we grew up!
Neither will my(future) kids! I never had a tv or computer in my room. Still don't! Unless I take my laptop into bed with me:)
sounds like you had a good weekend. Love your house!
Fun weekend!:) Just checking to make sure you got my email with the virtual tour of our house near Preston/Royal... take care
My husband and I actually both liked Never Say Never also. It's interesting, and I like biographies. And then I cried several times during it when I realized my baby boy will be 16 one day also! Nooooooo! So... I'd recommend not watching if you're feeling emotional. :) Ha!
YAY for productive weekends!!! :-)
