Oooohhhh this week. I know I always say it, but this one really has been nuts. I’m still exhausted so I’m just going to do this update bullet style. It may get random…
- Monday we spent mostly at home. Unpacking from Tennessee, getting caught up on housework, etc. We also had a new deep freezer delivered.
We usually buy meat and a lot of frozen food in bulk so I’m excited to have the extra space!
- That afternoon I watched my friend Britney’s boys while she had a doctors appointment.
William is such a ham! I especially love his shirt… ;)
Afterwards our other friend Leslie came over with her kids and we kind of had an impromptu play-date. So fun! Before we knew it it was 5:30 so we packed up the kids and headed to Chik-fil-A for dinner. I love these girls, so it’s always fun to catch up :)
- Tuesday I kept Hadley home from school. She wasn’t feeling well so not only did she go to the doctor, but she also got to accompany me to an my appointment. And she’d kept me up from 1-5am the night before. So that was fun…
- I’m not remembering anything from Wednesday…
- Thursday started out pretty crazy. I had an unplanned meeting with the curriculum coordinator at the kids’ preschool program. We’ve had some on-going issues with Knox’s teacher this year, and based on some things that happened Tuesday I did not feel comfortable keeping him in her class. If we weren’t going to be able to switch him then I was prepared to pull both kids out of the program that day…
Strangely enough, despite the fact that there were 28 3yr olds on the waiting list for the T/Th program, one spot in the other class had never been filled. No one knew why, but they went ahead and let Knox take that spot…
I still have some major issues with some of the things that happened, but for now I‘m just thankful to have Knox in a different environment. I already feel better about his new teacher. After talking with her I can tell she is strict - which is ok - but she is comfortable teaching kids like Knox (rowdy 3yr old boys), and above all she doesn’t have a target on his back.
- The crockpot hot chocolate recipe from Pinterest…
It really IS all it’s cracked up to be! Soooo good. I made a half recipe and cooked it on high for an hour, whisking frequently… I’m thinking I’ll have to make some more tonight.
I also tried the Cream Cheese Spaghetti Bake from Pinterest this week… It was easy and really good!
- Friday was also draining. We took Knox to see a neurologist because he’s had issues with his feet falling asleep on a regular basis… Dr. M says it’s likely due to either an iron deficiency or restless leg syndrome. We’ll have his iron checked Monday. We are thankful that it is nothing more serious. Dr. M says Knox’s physical and cognitive development are spot on…
He kept calling him David (which is his first name) and I asked Knox Why don’t you tell Dr. M what the name you go by is… When he did, Dr. M laughed and said I see why y’all named him that… Hard Knox! Needless to say, our firstborn keeps us on our toes and may be just a bit stubborn ;)
- I wasn’t sure if they’d have to stick Knox or do Lord knows what else to him on Friday so I had James go with us and had Santa drop off a special toy in Tahoe for afterwards…
The planes have been a HUGE hit with Knox. I think he’s spent every waking moment of the past 24 hours playing with them. They came with missiles which he loves to surprise attack James with, and also 3 pilot figurines which he calls dudes… “Hey mama, you seen my dudes? …Hey, look at this dude in here!” …I LOVE little boys!
This is an Imaginext set I found at Costco. It comes with 3 planes that all do cool boy things. I love Imaginext toys because they are for “bigger boys” yet still durable enough for a 3 year old, and don’t have a million tiny pieces for H to choke on. I’m pretty sure Santa has a few more left in his bag…
- Confession : My fall decorations are still up. That’s how crazy this week has been. We have our tree up but I’ve yet to decorate it. I feel like such a slacker especially since Knox is SO in to Christmas this year. He loves telling me about Santa and Baby Jesus…
Which makes me so glad I went ahead and picked up this adorable wooden children's nativity when I saw it months ago. (Another Costco find.) He had the best time setting it up the other night while telling me his own version of the Christmas story…
- We also started our Elf on the Shelf tradition the other night. Again - Knox is SO in to it and takes it very seriously… He was adamant on naming our elf Crash and although I was kind of liking Clyde, I caved…
He is officially Crash the Elf and I have been taking FULL advantage of the phrase Knox, remember Crash is watching you…
- We are still doing the 3 gifts for each kid tradition (because that’s how many Baby Jesus got) but I’ve also picked up several things I consider joint gifts. Mostly Melissa and Doug toys that I know both kids will play with and will stay in the playroom…
All of these I got for a steal from either Kohl’s or Home Goods! I adore Melissa and Doug.
- Speaking of gifts - I’m finding it so much easier to shop for Knox. I guess it’s because I’m used to being in boy mode, but I’m really struggling on ideas for Hadley. I’ve gotten her an indoor riding toy, a Little People set, and I’m clueless on what I should do for the 3rd… Any ideas on toys for a 18-24mo old girl would be greatly appreciated. She already has a play kitchen and lots of babies…
- We haven’t done much today. I’m trying out a new crockpot recipe my friend sent me for pork chops. It’s smelling really good right now so I’ll have to share the recipe once we try it. And Knox helped me make a batch of these little cuties…
We used Duncan Hines yellow cake mix and milk chocolate frosting, small pretzel twists for the antlers, vanilla wafers for the muzzles, red M&Ms for the noses (held on with a dab of white icing), and the eyes are by Wilton. (Found in the cake decorating section at Target.)
Cupcakes are his favorite so he was really psyched about these. He helped me combine the ingredients and then did the eyes and noses ALL by himself :)
We also did some plain with sprinkles for Mom and Dad :)
………………………………………………………………………….
I think that’s it for now… Along with getting our Thanksgiving post up, Knox was exactly 3.5yrs on 11/29, so I have an update on him in store too…

I'm struggling also on what to get our 15 month old daughter for Christmas. So far, we know she's going to be getting a few new books, since she loves reading. But, other than that, I have no idea!
Loved the recap!
I'm a little at a loss on what to get JK, too! I am trying to plan a little further out with toys since she just had a birthday and then Christmas. It will be a while before we get new toys again.
I can't wait to hear what you decide on for H! Maybe it will give me some ideas!
I have never commented before, but we just got our one year old daughter the fisher price tea laugh and learn tea set. She really enjoys listening to it sing.
I was going to say a tea set as well. I think every little girl should have one they can play with and a fancy one for later! :)
since i have two girls thats alli know how to shop for! my daughter loved the My First Dollhouse by fisherprice when she was little and the figurines are bogger and easier for little hands to manipulate. also a tea set or baby stroller are always a hit
