I feel like the past few days have been so long. Saturday was long because we had breakfast with Santa and then had to drive so far out to get the stroller… Sunday was long because we DIDN’T go anywhere. I’m battling a cold/sinus infection/allergies and I just felt cruddy all day. I did end up going to the urgent care clinic that afternoon. With both kids in tow. That’s always fun…
On top of it all James has been out of town since LAST Sunday. (AS in 8 days ago…) I’m counting down the hours until he comes back home. I end up so exhausted by the end of every day.
Today we had to drive WAY north of the city. Hadley had an appointment with the pediatric plastic surgeon who has been following her for her hemangioma. (Strawberry birthmark. She has one in the fold of her neck.) Many times hemangiomas shrink on their own, but we haven’t seen much change in Hadley’s. It’s in a really irritable spot, so we went ahead and scheduled her to have laser treatments on it. She’ll get 3 of those, 6 weeks apart. Not looking forward to the procedures, but I will be glad to have this taken care of and her doctor is the best of the best. (Why else would I drive an hour to make these appointments?) She’s in good hands…
After the doctor’s appointment we swung by Northpark. I wasn’t planning on this outing but since we were already in the neighborhood, I just couldn’t resist. NP has ruined all other malls for me…
It took Knox all of 20 seconds to spot Santa. The kids weren’t matching, but they were dressed cute enough so I figured we’d drop by and have their picture made…
{This is a scan of our 5x7 print. $65 for a digital copy… Um I don’t think so!}
I think this was THE BEST Santa I’ve ever seen. If there were ever a real thing, he’d be it. Hadley is NOT amused by the big guy this year, and they were even able to get a smile out of her! And yes… Knox once again asked him for a boat :)
The kids napped in the car on the way home, and once we got there I saw our Christmas cards had finally been delivered. I got smart this year and typed out all our address contacts on to labels. So all I had to do was put them together, stamp, and label them and we dropped them off by the post office. I’ll give them a few days to get to our family and friends and then I will share…
After that errand we went to gym so I could get in an evening workout, and then back home. We had a frozen BBQ chicken pizza and then I just counted down the minutes to 8:00… It can’t come soon enough these days!
Besides all that, I’ve been wanting to jot down a few Knoxisms. He makes me laugh…
- He’s been referring to himself in the 3rd person for the past month. “Hey, that’s Knox’s…” Not sure what started it. A few days ago he started referring to himself as Knoxy Boy. (?!?!?!) “Mama, that’s Knoxy Boy’s…” I seriously have no idea where he got that. I don’t think I’ve ever called him that.
- I caught him giving Hadley a wet willie the other day. (You know - lick finger and stick it in someone’s ear…) I can’t wait til I get a hold of whoever taught him that one…
- Knox is obsessed with anything that goes. And buildings… He gets SO excited every time we drive downtown. I tried to explain to him the other day that Daddy works IN those big buildings. He took that to mean Daddy works ON the big buildings. And that’s what he tells everyone. He is so proud of his Daddy now that he thinks he’s a construction worker.
- Along those lines…
He came up to me just like this yesterday and told me he needed to put on his coat because he needed to go outside to work on the house. He was so serious, I died. My little man!
- He wakes up at 5am like clock work. We used to have a baby gate outside his door, but decided he was old enough to take it down a few months ago. Ever since then when he wakes up he comes straight down to my room and wakes me up with a big kiss on my cheek and says “GOOD MORNING MAMA!” I’m not a morning person, but how can I get mad at that??? Usually he’ll crawl in to bed with us and go to sleep for another hour or two.
- And this…
This would be our family bible! I made him sit in time out but I didn’t have the heart to spank him for it because he showed it to me himself and was so proud. Like he created a masterpiece… I told James we’ll probably look back on this 30 years from now and think it’s cute. Maybe…

I saw where we follow a lot of the same people on Twitter so I had to say hi! We had our pic made with the NP Santa on Friday. He's awesome!
Been reading for a bit, haven't commented. I lived in Dallas for 5 years and I miss it, so it's nice to hear about the city. We'll be back in a couple of years :) Northpark is THE best ever! Hadley as just the sweetest little doll and Knox looks like a little gentleman. I can (sort of)empathize with you about being away from the husband. Mine doesn't travel as much as he used to but he is a major workaholic and currently in grad school. I never see him!
The Northpark Santa is the best! I'm 24 and we used to go see him every year growing up! Seriously, if Santa was real, it would be him. Your kids look too cute!
I LOVE Northpark!! Great mall!! I've never been there during Christmas time! Guess I need to go!
what a cute picture of the kids with santa!! my kids cooperated as well, i am so thankful. being a photography mama i have trained them well..
What a cute picture of your kids! I like going to North Park just to people watch! I'm just amazed and overwhelmed by it all! Haha! I live about an hour south of the metroplex and rarely make it up that way. But we occasionally go eat at Buca's and do a little shopping!
