We drove in to Tennessee Tuesday and did absolutely nothing that day… Wednesday my sister and I got out to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Then that night we celebrated my big brother’s 29th birthday!
My brother and youngest sister rent a house together so we all went over there and had pizza and salad…
Poppy’s girl!
Knox is the master of ceremonies when it comes to birthdays.
Uncle Nick sharing his birthday cake with Hadley… Looks like she has a new favorite!
My stepmom made Nick’s favorite cake - Chocolate Éclair Cake. It’s crazy easy…
- Make up two small boxes of instant vanilla pudding according to directions and let "set" in the fridge for about 5 minutes. Whisk in one standard size container of Cool Whip with the pudding.
- Layer the bottom of a 13x9" dish with graham crackers. Top with 1/2 of the pudding mixture. Repeat both layers once, and top with a third layer of graham crackers.
- Soften a container of chocolate icing in the microwave for about 10 seconds, and then spread over the top of the cake. Top with chopped pecans or sprinkles.
- Chill for at least 3-4 hours.
Hadley thinks she’s me trying to drag my 17lb bag across the room.
Thursday we met my Dad for lunch at Panera bread…
And then he treated us out to the Enchanted Forest. We took Knox to this 2 years ago, and I grew up going every year…
Thought I’d let the kids get one more day of wear out of their Grinch shirts…
Knox’s favorite was the TRAINS, of course!
Gingerbread house display.
And the kids got to see Santa for the THIRD time this year! We weren’t planning on seeing him that many times, but at least they wore different outfits for each…
And apparently 3rd time’s the charm for Hadley… Look at that smile!
Our attempt at a family pic ;)
We spent Thursday night and Friday morning out at my in-laws, and now we are back at my mom’s. We’re gearing up for the 1st of 5 family Christmas celebrations tonight… Needless to say, we will be busy-busy the next few days!
But before I forget - a few of you asked, so here are some of our favorite preschool apps we keep on our phones and iPads. Most are educational and all will keep K and H busy!
- Peek-a-Boo Barn, Peek-a-Zoo and Peek Wild - Knox and Hadley love these. The Peek Wild is especially good for Hadley’s age and even younger babies.
- Zoo Train - Lots of educational games.
- Where’s My Water? - A Disney app. Hard to explain, but really fun. I even like it :)
- iWrite Words - Teaches how to write letters and numbers. This has been GREAT for Knox. He'd play it for hours if I let him, and it really has taught him how to write just about everything.
- Counting Caterpillar
- The Monster at the End of This Book - Very cute book!
- Interactive Alphabet
- Veggie Tales
- My Smart Hands - Dictionary of baby sign language with video clips for each.
- Sprout Player
I also have the Weet Woo app under my Entertainment category…
This is a neat one for kids. You choose your kids age and it compiles age-appropriate clips from YouTube. It includes a lot of popular shows.
Red Stamp - I came across this app the other day. It takes pictures from your phone and turns them in to greeting cards that you can e-mail, message, or save to your phone. I used it on the kids’ Santa picture above.
This next one is kind of seasonal. I keep it under my Photography category…
How hard are you laughing right now?!?! Haha, this is the Grinch Cam…
:) Let me know if I’m missing any other good kid apps. Or any other apps in general…
And if you don’t hear from me before Sunday…
Have a Blessed Christmas!
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
