B’fast with Santa and Our New Wheels

Our health club is really good about hosting fun family events around the holidays. We had so much fun at the Halloween Spooktacular, when I saw they were having a Breakfast with Santa I signed us up. So that’s what we did this Saturday morning…

They had a yummy breakfast buffet set up. We were seated at Santa’s table.

Hadley and I enjoyed the eggs, biscuits, and fruit…

While Knox pretty much just focused on his “cupcake” (chocolate muffin).

After breakfast we got in line to see Santa. Knox was SO excited!

He told Santa to bring him a boat. He’s been very consistent on wanting that. And yes… I believe Santa will bring some sort of boat.

Hadley was very cautious of Santa. She didn’t totally freak out, but she wasn’t thrilled to sit in his lap.

I debated back and forth on how to dress them today. Hadley has so many cute Christmas outfits. But since we were doing pictures, these were their most coordinating outfits. Even though we did just wear them on Thursday…

They did take professional pics, which we’ll get as soon as their edited and printed. Hope they got a decent one!

And then we moved on to crafts…

Knox got to make reindeer food and sparkley oats to sprinkle in the yard so the reindeer can see our house.

He made an ornament for our tree.

And a jingle bell necklace :)

Santa made Knox a balloon sword… While Miss H was just EVERYWHERE.

Then we went to listen in on story time…

I let them run off some energy on the turf field and before we knew it we’d been there 2 hours, so we headed out.

Except we didn’t go home… I sold our double stroller (Joovy Ergo Caboose) about a month ago. It’s a great stroller, but just wasn’t working for our family. I need something light, compact, and easy to use/fold. I also prefer a side-by-side seater… And after a month without a double I really do feel that we need one. Our kids are just too young and close together. Knox does fine walking on short trips, but when I take them to the mall or on outings by myself I just can’t afford to not have him strapped in. I also fly with them by myself a few times a year, and it’s a must for busy airports.

Anyway - after much research and talking to people - I decided the Baby Jogger City Mini would be a good fit for us. They are clearing out the 2011 models so I knew if I wanted to get it I needed to now. The only store that had it in stock in the color I wanted was a Buy Buy Baby a good hour across town… So after we left the gym, we headed that way.

I tried several comparable strollers while I was there to be sure this is what I wanted… BOB has one but it’s much bigger. It’d be great if I was a runner, but we need something more for indoors and family outings. Peg Perego has a similar one, but it was a few inches wider… In the end love how smoothly the Baby Jogger pushes and how easily it folds up. It has an option to attach an infant carrier and it meets all my other criteria so I went ahead and purchased it. Luckily we made enough off of selling the Joovy to cover most of it.

Seemed like forever but we FINALLY made it back home this afternoon. Knox helped me get the new ride set up…

See how flat it folds up??? Heaven. Best part…

It fits nicely in the back of the Tahoe. WITH the third row seats up.

Got the official Knox stamp of approval :)

How are your kids doing with the City Mini? Mine are 15 months apart and I was looking into one because we have a double Chicco. It is like driving a train and is hard to turn when my son is up front. I didn't know if they would play nice sitting side by side.
