A Nice Little Weekend

Rarely do I like raunchy humored [what I like to call] "boy movies" but James and I always laugh about this one quote by Will Ferrell's character in Old School…

Actually we've got a nice little Saturday planned. We're going to Home Depot to pick out some wallpaper. Then maybe we'll hit Bed Bath and Beyond... I don't know! I don't know if we'll have enough time!

I think we laugh because it's so true. A trip to Home Depot really is something exciting these days ;)

Anyway, Friday I was out running errands most of the morning with the kids.

We stopped by Barnes & Noble to pick up our Elf on the Shelf. I think Knox is at the perfect age for it this year. I can't wait for the fun :) I also picked up a few Christmas books to add to our advent unwrap-one-book-each-night tradition we're starting this year. (Yes - Pinterest.) We had about 10 already, most of these here were on sale, and I'll probably scour Marshall's, Kohl's and Wal-Mart for the rest.

*I was able to get our Elf and book set for $15. I just "Liked" Barnes & Noble on Facebook and it prompted me to download a 50% off 1 item coupon. Score!

Afterwards Knox and I decided to check out what the In-and-Out hype was all about. (Around 11ish. BEFORE it got crazy.) It wasn't too bad, I just really missed having mustard and ketchup. And I don't know if it was just our batch or what but it was WAY too greasy for me. I once saw a girl on the news crying because it was sooo good… I still don't get it.

I spent the rest of Friday until late that night organizing and pricing for our bi-yearly neighborhood garage sale Saturday morning…

It was a bit chilly Saturday morning so we set the kids up in the garage with a space heater, snacks, and movie. They loved it!

Although they still got out to play…

Garage salers crack me up. We had tons of great, like-new toys, clothes, and housewares priced at nothing. Yet what were they drawn to? The JUNK. Like seriously the stuff I would've given to Good Will anyway. I guess that's ok though. We made a decent little profit off of our junk ;)

Right after the sale we packed up and drove downtown. I'm so proud of the way James' company has taken off. They just finished a custom build-out on a new space downtown and he needed to be there while the furniture was being delivered. We tagged along so I could see. And because I just love being downtown. Maybe because I didn't grow up in a big city…

I LOVE the new space. It's not totally complete, nor set up so my pictures don't do it any justice but it really is so much nicer than any old cookie-cutter office space. It's in an older-but-renovated building and just has so much character. I love the stained concrete floors, windows, track lighting, wood accents, and they are having heavy sliding barn doors installed. (The contractor has been stalking my Pinterest… Obviously.) I'll have to share better pictures once it's all put together.

Miss Junior Executive testing out one of the new desks ;)

We were totally lazy the rest of Saturday.

I did get all Pinteresty and put my washed/chopped lettuce in Mason jars. We'll see if this works to keep it fresh. We eat salad at least 2-3 times a week so this could possibly save me a lot of trouble.

*Don't you love how I've already referenced Pinterest 3 times in this post…

So I took Hadley in to her closet this morning asked her which dress she wanted to wear and (no lie) she reached out and grabbed her turkey one :) Great idea, girl!

Sunday we had to run errands. We used some of the garage sale proceeds to replace my laptop (Long overdue. Yay!), then grabbed lunch and made a Costco run.

26

I decided to do a pot roast in the crockpot for a hearty Sunday dinner. Except my crockpot is insane. It cooks meat in like 1 hour on low heat. I'm not sure how old it is but we ran in to a new one at Costco for a decent price so we went ahead and got it. I didn't get to use it for our pot roast, but I will get to test it out for Chicken-N-Dumplings later on this week :)

I went on a grocery run while the kids napped and we just spent the rest of Sunday evening catching up on housework, watching Cars 2, and trying to get my new computer set up. So yes. A nice little weekend, indeed :)

that is so funny...i'm the same way with movies, but we always quote that line from old school. jeffrey will usually say it to his guy friends, too...like it's such a terrible thing to have to go to bb&b with your wife - ha!
i'm trying the chicken and dumplings again this week. i tried it once after seeing it on pinterest (there i go referencing it - haha!) but i used the "butter" biscuits and it just had too much of a "buttery" taste. i think it would have been good though, i just need to tweak it a little :) LOVE hadley's dress -- precious!!!

@Amy - I think I've seen crockpot recipes that add butter. I don't at all. I just use original Grands biscuits and it seems to turn out perfectly :)

I love the idea of the books for advent. That's a great way to increase our collection of books around here. Your kids are precious and I love the family pictures you had done.
