Proud Mommy Moment

You know what makes my heart happy? When someone goes out of their way to tell me how special one of my kids is. As their mom, I KNOW how special they are, but there is just something about hearing it from someone else that is so validating. It's like Ok, so it's not just me???

Ms. Renee is one of the curriculum coordinators at the kids MDO program. She doesn't teach any one class, but she still has a lot to do with the kids. And she always holds the door open and greets parents running in and out to drop off their kids.

Today as I was heading in to pick up the kids I smiled at her and said Hi like I always do. She returned it and as I was passing she stopped me and said "Hadley is just the cutest thing…"

I gave an appreciative laugh and said "Thanks, I think so too!"

Then she said "No really… She is always so happy. I just love being around her. She has such a sweet spirit… She is a very special little girl."

*Cue Mommy's beaming with pride face…

What really struck me about this conversation was the genuineness of it. I hadn't asked her about Hadley, and we weren't even having a conversation. She just felt led to stop me and say this.

Hadley really does have a uniquely precious spirit. I wish it was something I could put in to words or capture with a video so you all could know too. She is beautiful from the inside out and an absolute joy to have as a daughter. I just wanted to take a moment to write this down to remember…

I'm glad God doesn't bless us according to merit, because both of my children are so much more than I could ever deserve.

You are SO right. There is nothing better than hearing someone else tell you how great your babies are. I love the way you put it - "so it's not just me???" Those comments from others just make my day.

Blessed is right. And my tears came too. Only b/c I am a teacher (4 yr olds at a private preschool) and know those kids that carry those special spirits and b/c I too am a Mommy. I get compliments as often as I'm sure you do, but I know how it feels to get 'those' compliments. I wish it was something to capture on video, but for now..keep beaming! You're a great mom!

I think I would just have a crying meltdown if someone told me that! How sweet of her to say that! Glad it made your day. ~Andrea

You're Hadley is too precious. I too have a Hadley and came across your blog a month or 2 ago. I was wondering if you would be interested in reselling Hadley's clothes?
