We kicked off Halloween 2011 Saturday! Our gym, Lifetime, always hosts holiday events for the kids. This year's Halloween party had a "Hollywood" theme so all the employees were decked out as movie characters. They had games, jump houses, inflatable mazes, pictures, a haunted house, and so on… It was a lot of fun!
Knox is going as a pirate this year…
Arghh, mateys!!!
He loves anything pirate and I figure this buys me at least one more year before he's begging for some super hero suit from Wal-Mart… I usually make the kids costumes, but I found this pirate role play set set from Melissa and Doug and I figured I'd go ahead and get it so we can add it to our dress-up collection. It's pretty good quality so I know it'll hold up better than anything I could make or pick up from the costume store. It said it fit 3-6yrs but it turned out so big, I think he will be able to wear it until he's 12! The top is a one-piece that velcros down the front, and the jeans are a $3 Circo pair that I cut off.
Miss Hadley, was a peacock…
Or she has a peacock-themed tutu set. I made the purple, turquoise, and green tutu and the headpiece (which you can see better in this post) and she wore it with a black monogrammed shirt and leggings. Oh and the shoes… Those were a pair of black Mary Jane's from Target that I spray painted (yes, SPRAY PAINTED) silver glitter. They turned out cute but I should have taped off the bottoms because they got glitter on them and were making her slide everywhere. I ended up letting her wear a pair of squeakers instead.
Knox wasn't in the best mood before we left. But he perked up once we got there and had a ball!
These were a few of the games Knox did. I know James is helping him in the first and I didn't really get an in-action shot in the second, but he was able to "win" both all by himself. He's developed a really good arm lately. I'm so proud :)
All the little girls got the biggest kick out of Hadley and her tutu. I tell you what though… Between holding her and loading her in and out of the car seat and stroller, I think it's gonna take an hour to "detangle" it before she wears it again…
They had a giant Pump-It-Up type maze which Knox LOVED. He went through it at least 8 times.
I'm always amazed at how fast he can climb these things at just 3 years.
H was a little skeptical about this "roller coaster" at first, but all it took was one time and she was hooked.
She'd go down, then try to back it up on to the ramp to do it again.
We were backed up to the huge windows here so the lighting is awful. Boooo.
Knox can't stand to see sister having fun and not have a turn too! Even if he does probably exceed the weight limit for this…
That's ok ;) It's things like this (and even the way he looks) that remind me so much of my big brother in our home videos.
They must have known Knox was coming… There was cookie decorating!
Daddy's girl.
They had a professional photographer taking pictures in front of this background and a pumpkin display. This is the only one I took but he got some pretty cute ones!
Hadley LOVES "talking" on the phone. When she's done she'll even say "Biiii!" (My best attempt to spell Bye with a Southern twang???)
What a mess!
They had music and dancing. It was so funny to watch Knox do the Cha Cha Slide. He'd listen to the words, look at all the big kids, and then do the move. Obviously, this was the Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap yo hands! part…
Ok, seriously…
The CUTEST little pirate. Ever. :)
We were pretty starved after this so we grabbed a late lunch at Le Madelaine afterwards and then we all took long, late naps. Can't wait for more Halloween festivities this week.

Awwww....sweetest picture ever. I love the pic of you kissing your pirate!
I love their costumes. I so wish I could make my kiddos costumes. If I did they would fall right off their little bodies. Thank goodness for Target!
I'm excited for some of our Spooktacular events coming up this week!
love their costumes! Adorable as usual!! Quick question, for both kids, what do they have in their wardrobe? My kids always seem to have way more than they actually wear. Your kids are always dressed so sweet and it takes time to make things for them. You seem pretty organized and I'm sure you have a method for seasonal clothes! Just wondering! Hope your having a lovely Monday!
Where is your shirt and your shoes from? They are cool!
Thank you! My shirt is from Francesca's and the shoes are TOMS. I got them from an athletic store here,
