James' parents are taking a long road trip across the country and Texas was their first stop! They got in Friday afternoon and the kids have been in hog heaven since. Knox especially loves his grandparent time. He pretty much wishes the rest of us would just disappear when they are here. No joke. He's been a holy terror all weekend. I'm fairly certain it's because he doesn't like business (Mommy and Daddy) and play (MiMi and PaPaw) to mix. That being said…
He wasn't keen on me snapping pictures this weekend so this is the only one you'll see in this post. Someone on Twitter mentioned that they think age 3 is tougher than 2. Hate to say it - but for us I think that's gonna hold true…
{Hadley and PaPaw.}
We grabbed dinner out Friday night and just hung out at the house after. Hadley took 2 consecutive steps for the first time that night! Walking for the remote. The same thing Knox first walked for…
Saturday we got up and ready and headed out for some shopping at the outlets. The kids really needed their fall staples. I went to put Knox in jeans for school last Tuesday and realized they were all too short - so it was a must. My goal was to get jeans, jackets, shoes, and socks for both.
Mission accomplished. (Plus a few more cute things, of course.)
Hadley's things. She's currently mainly in a 12mo so I bought all 18mo, which was crazy to me. Everything looks so big, but I know she'll fit in to it all soon enough… How bout those black riding boots on the left??? I'm dying! And I plan on putting an "H" monogram on the cardigan.
And Knox's things. I never thought I'd say this 4 years ago - but I LOVE shopping for little boy things. Especially for fall. Obviously - I love shopping for Hadley too - but boys are different. I guess because it's so much simpler. And I get the biggest kick out of dressing Knox like a little man/frat boy. (PS - Let's just talk about how old I feel buying 4T things... Ahhh!)
{Standing like a big girl before bath time.}
One of the things we picked up for Hadley was a pair of Keds T-Straps because she really only had one pair of shoes that fit. I put them on her as soon as we got home and it's like what she was waiting for… She took 3-5 steps several times that day! I'm pretty sure in a few weeks I'll be chasing her through the house.
I think we were all wore out after Saturday's shopping excursion, so we spent Saturday evening in and grilled out for dinner. We caught the last half of the Texas game (Go HORNS!) then James and I were able to sneak out for a little date night later on.
Ridiculous - but this hasn't happened since I was pregnant with Hadley. Long overdue… I had to laugh though because (a) We were undecided about going to a movie because it "didn't start til 9:40 and was 2.5hrs long…" When did we get too old for the 9 o'clock movie?!?! And (b) We kicked off date night with a trip to Target. To buy diapers… Ahhh, such is the life ;)
Anyway, we ended up going to see The Help. It was good, but naturally I think the book was much, much better. I'm glad I read it because if I'd seen the movie first I probably wouldn't have…
{Isn't she just too much in her Barbie shades?!?}
Sunday we watched the 9/11 ceremonies, then headed out for lunch and a run to Sam's.
Just look at that face! Hadley is LOVING sweet tea these days. We don't give it to her in a cup or anything, but if she sees us with it she'll throw a fit until she gets a swig too.
James had to go downtown to work for a few hours this afternoon and MiMi and PaPaw are leaving early in the morning, so we just laid low tonight. Back to the grind of things this week! We're starting up MOPS on Monday and soccer on Tuesday so should be fun :)

My three year old (all of 2 weeks into it) has been much worse than 2!!! I keep hoping it's just a transition and things will mellow out soon! OH geez!!
That's so funny what you said about the 9pm movie being too late! My hubby and I just had the same dilemma on a recent date night! Having kids sure changes things! :)
My oldest child was much worse at 3 than 2, but is only lasted a few months. He is almost 4 now and has completely changed.
Oh and yes my boys (3 and 1) act awful around grandparents. It's like my authority doesn't matter! Drives me crazy!
There were parts of 3 that were harder than 2 for us, definitely. So far 4 (all 2 days of it!) has been a very emotional age! He actually started this phase a few weeks ago. Even with that it's a pretty fun age.
So good to finally meet you this morning! I don't think I finished my thought when we were talking, but I need you to teach me some embroidery basics! Especially if there is a lil girl growing in this belly ;)
