A-B-C 1-2-3

We survived the first day back to school! Knox has been SO excited about this ever since Meet the Teachers night last week.

So this morning we got up, packed, and out the door on time… SUCCESS!

Not gonna lie - I got spoiled last year by those mini Lunchables packs. But they're no longer selling them, so I've got to get back in to the swing of making lunches. Which is probably just as well, because I know whatever I make will be healthier than anything prepackaged/processed… They were just so stinkin easy though ;) So day 1 - a turkey and cheese pita sandwich, strawberries and pretzels for lunch, and goldfish for snack.

I haven't quite finished Knox's new nap mat. Luckily his from last year is still in pretty good shape.

To say he was excited would be an understatement. We took these an hour before we left and he didn't take his backpack off until we were in the car.

Standing beside his "basket" outside his classroom. He ran straight in and didn't even look back.

Ms. Denese had them playing with, I believe, Kool-Aid playdough. Sounds like STAINS to me… ;)

Hadley was such a doll in her back-to-school bishop. Even though I ended up not sending her. I just told the director to move her to the bottom of the waiting list and we'd reevaluate in a few months if a spot opened up. I think I've made the right decision and that she and I will enjoy our one-on-one time.

After dropping Knox off we went to the gym for my Life Power pilates class. Which I can't even explain how much I love… H had a good, non-fussy hour+ in the nursery and went straight down for a nap once we got home. This is where it's gonna be tricky. MDO pick-up time is 2pm - right in the middle of Hadley's normal naptime. I guess on Tues. and Thur. I'll just have to let her take an early cat-nap and then put her down after we get home… While she slept I did a little cleaning and just enjoyed some quiet.

We picked up brother at 2. I immediately noticed he was in his spare clothes. his teacher informed me that someone had an accident on the slide and Knox slid right through it. Lovely. As if cleaning up after your own kids accidents isn't bad enough, now I get to wash clothes with somebody else's on it. (I'm being sarcastic. But am still kind of serious…)

Anyway - he had a juice box and snack in the car while I asked about his day. This is our little after-school tradition :) We headed straight up to Lifetime to get his hair cut. Something I needed to do before school started but it just didn't happen…

I'll tell you one thing - I definitely remember the downfall to MDO… 30-45min naps. Knox still takes 2+ hour naps, so this just doesn't sit well with him. He had a total meltdown at the spa after his cut. Why??? Because they didn't have suckers. Ahhh! We went straight home and I've quarantined the grumpy boy to the playroom with a movie.  I've always said it - I wish they didn't even take naps at school. Just wear 'em out and send them home so at least they can get a decent one. But naps or no naps, we're grateful to be back in school and I know Knox had a good first day.

I am getting ready to write a similar post. My daughter began Kindergarten today. She never went to daycare, pre-school or even had a babysitter so there were tears on my part when I had to leave her today! Thanks for sharing!
