Tuesday was our Meet the Teachers night for the kids' MDO program. This will be Knox's THIRD year in the program which is insane to me. Seems like it was just yesterday I went to tour it. (And locked him in the car and they had to call 911… True story.) Now he will be in the 3 year old class, and Miss Hadley will be in the One's. (Maybe…)
So anyway - when James got home from work, I had the kids dressed and ready to go, so I *attempted* to get a few pics of them before we headed out…
I'm beginning to think there will never come a day when they'll just SIT and take a picture for me… At least they're cute anyway!
Before meet the teachers, we headed to one of our favorite little places for a quick dinner…
I'm not even sure what you'd call a place like this. It's like a mini Central Market. They sell fresh/local produce, cut fresh butcher meats, sell prepared food (that is YUM) and all kinds of fancy wines. AND they have an eat-in deli type restaurant. Love it.
After dinner we headed up to the school. (And I didn't take a single picture. I'll get some on the first day though.) Knox had the same pair of teachers for 2 years in a row and we adored them. He has just one teacher this year and although I know she'll be great, I'm kind of missing Miss Jennifer and Miss Allison already :( But his new teacher is Miss Denise and she seems like a total character! She made it very clear that she runs a tight ship but also seems very fun and dedicated… She runs her class more like "school" so the kids will be doing early reading, math, and science experiments.
I'm excited for Knox, and I KNOW he is pumped. He won't stop asking me when he can go back to school! He was thrilled to see all of his friends.
Hadley is in the same room Knox was as a One, but she has a different set of teachers - Miss Nikki and Miss Lisa. They both seem so sweet! However, I'm not gonna lie… There was a pretty big part of me that wanted to come home with a reason to not send her next week. I made a huge deal over the fact that she's not walking yet. Only to have the coordinator assure me that she'd be fine and would be up and walking in no time.
I just don't know if I can do it. Hadley and I are tight. She's not as independent as Knox has always been. (I don't think he has ever ONCE cried when I left him somewhere.) And I feel in so many ways that she's still a baby. She barely made the cut-off (Sept 1st) to start this year so she is the youngest in the class. When Knox was a One they split it up in to 2 classes - the older and younger ones. They didn't do that this year so there are literally kids in her class that will be 2 in a few weeks. And they look SO big compared to her.
Agh - I dunno… I really can't just hold her at home for a month or so because there's a waiting list of people wanting in. I'm afraid if I don't start her now I'll really be regretting it later… So the PLAN is to send her on Tuesday and just see how it goes. I'm gonna be a wreck over it and I know she WILL NOT be happy. But we'll give it a fair shot… :-/
Speaking of Miss Thing…
This is now how she insists riding in the buggy now. There's no way I can strap her in to stop her. I spend half the time shopping trying to wrestle her down and the other half just holding on to her clothes so she doesn't fall. And this isn't the half of it, she has what we call the "beauty queen" wave (she waves at the wrist), and she does it to everyone we pass. Oh she's quite the show…
A lady saw me trying to deal with her yesterday and told me her daughter was the exact same way. A total monkey. And now she's a competitive gymnast. So I've decided that's got to be it - I'm raising the next Shaun Johnson…
This morning I ran some errands and made a tray of lasagna for a family that recently lost a daughter and is left to care for her 3 week old baby. (Can you even imagine?!?) Tonight I have a fun girls night planned that I am SOOOO looking forward to! So I guess I need to go shower… ;)

B is completely a monkey in the store and she scares me to death standing up the exact same way.
I was torn about MDO B is really attached to me (so it isn't helping matters) but I've planned lots of play dates to get her ready for January.
I was to give up my spot last week but January will be here soon enough.
this has nothing to do with your post but i have been contemplating getting Gracyn the little pink sparkly Toms and now after seeing how adorable they are on Hadley I HAVE to have them. Like today! :-) Good luck with the school thing!
I understand you not wanting to send Hadley to MDO. I had a hard time sending my middle son.. Ended up being one of the best things for him.. I will pray that ends up being that way for y'all.. :)
I love the little pink toms..
Your kiddos are just WAY too cute... but I'm sure you hear that all the time ;-)
Are those pink Toms that Hadley has on?! They are precious!!!
What cuties :) The second and fourth picture of them on your mantle are my faves (I couldn't pick just one...) Good luck with you decision on whether to send Hadley or not...you will know what is right, and do just that! Happy Wednesday! oxo
Love the pics of Knox kissing H! So cute. For Your concern about MDO, I once read a quote in a book that said "when in doubt, choose to be WITH your kids because work, hobbies and chores will be there later." Just something to think about.
I love all the pictures of your kids! So cute...they look like they have so much fun together!
I love the 4th picture down...so precious. And we ate at that place last week after our ob visit...so good!!! Now I know if I get stuck on bedrest, I have somewhere yummy to send people for food! As far as MDO, I say go with your gut.
The Target picture is adorable!
