Fun Filled Fourth {Part 1}

James kind of had a long day Friday so after he got home we decided to kick off our holiday weekend with something FUN. We headed to CiCi's for dinner. Ok, I've never had a problem with CiCi's but we had the worst experience this time so I just don't think we'll be back anytime soon... Afterwards we headed to the movie theater to see Cars2!

I think Cars was Knox's first favorite movie, and his obsession has never stopped. I swear, he has every Cars car ever made. (Trust me, I Cloroxed every one of them last weekend.) So needless to say - he was SO excited! He kept on saying "I. Am. SPEEEED!" ...Oh to be a little boy ;)

I thought it was really cute. Just a little long and the plot was a little much for little kids... The kids did pretty well. I just had to spend 30 minutes wrestling a VERY over-tired Hadley until she finally gave in to sleep. Knox didn't take his eyes off the screen.

Saturday we did a little housework then I had a baby shower to attend for a MOPS friend. After naps we headed out to the mall for a little shopping. Knox had busted an entire bottle of my MAC Mineralize Wear all over the bathroom earlier, and I was already needing more SkinFinish. We also needed to pick up a few things for the kids' pictures on Sunday... Then it was dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and home!

Sunday after pictures and lunch at McCalister's we went straight home for naps, and I'll confess - spent the remainder of the day watching the stinkin Casey Anthony trial. We saw openings back when we were in Florida and I've been kind of hooked on it ever since. I'd say I'm nervous about the verdict, but I'm not... I truly believe justice will be served in the end by God. I just feel so sorry for Casey's parents either way. Nobody wins.

ANYWAY... Sunday evening we packed up the kids and headed to the other side of the metroplex for a party James' business partner was hosting. They had it at their GORGEOUS family ranch home out on the lake and I about died. The house is probably 100+ years old, and everything about the estate looked like something out of a movie. Or Southern Living. And the party itself was just fabulous.

{Typically I don't think Knox looks like his Daddy. But this is SUCH a James face...}

{Seeing the lake in the background gave me boat fever. Bad.}

{I kind of randomly picked up these overalls and shirt at Target because I just wanted something "little boy" for his pictures... He ended up looking so cute in them though!}

{Poor Knox wanted to swim SO badly. I just didn't want him to be the first/only one in though. Ha!}

{Oh Hadley... Always posing!}

{I guess it was because we had portraits earlier, but Knox was in a rare picture mood. So I took advantage!}

We didn't stay long after dark because we had an hour drive home and the kids were getting tired. But we had such a nice time, and I was so glad to meet everyone James talks about on a daily basis. I had to laugh though - we were the only ones in the "married-with-young-kids" life stage there. But they were so much appreciated! I swear there were atleast 6 women that I knew for a fact would steal Hadley if I took my eye off of her for a second. And the little old ladies just raved over Knox. One told me "Oh that blond cowlick and those overalls... So Americana. He looks like a picture. Like something from Norman Rockwall." Made my day. I have an obsession with NR ;)

I'll post the rest of our weekend tomorrow, but this is probably enough picture overload for one post! I love the 4th of July :)
