The HOA provided the bounce houses, food, and drinks - we were just asked to bring some filled eggs, chairs, and a dessert. Sooooo, I made my first batch of Cake Pops. (Just used the Bakerella Recipe that pretty much everyone uses.) They weren't a total catastrophe. Actually, the neighbors LOVED them and ate them up! They just weren't quite up to my "pretty" standards ;) I did the first half with candy melts from the craft store and the second half with vanilla almond bark. Had MUCH better luck with the almond bark.
These are the ones I kept for us because they wouldn't fit in my dish...
So they're not terribly ugly. Just "homemade" looking ;) My candy melts batch was a Tiffany blue, so at least the colors looked cute together!
Anyway - it was fun to catch up on neighborly gossip and as always - grab a few cute pics of the kids...
[Is it wierd that I want my daughters outfit in my size?]
[A and M were hysterical "little mommas" to Hadley. They are just a bit older than Knox and they spent the entire night feeding her snacks, giving her her pacie, telling her what she could and could not do... I mean look at her face. I'm pretty sure by this point they had stuffed her with 87 Puffs. I even caught one of them trying to feed her a Cheeto!]
[Knox of course preffered to hang with the big kids. He thinks he is one...]
[The "little kids" egg hunting group."]
[He did pretty well during the egg hunt. He's actually probably the youngest of the group. Seems like most kids in our neighborhood are elementery age and up.]
[Agh - handful of CUTENESS!]
[Heading home... He's about outgrown his trike. Time to upgrade to a big boy bike very soon!
PS - If you look in the background of this pic you can see the press box of the high school football stadium... That's over a mile away! That's Texas for ya... Our house is at the end of this street on the right side, so we can see it from our playroom window and hear the games on Friday nights during the fall. Kind of neat :)]

Oh my goodness, sounds like so much fun! That's so great that your neighbor is so friendly. Every now and then our neighbors put on a BBQ of some sort, but definitely not to the extreme as your neighbors! I'm jealous :)
how much fun!! I think the great hoa is a big thing in texas because ours does all the same things your naiborhood is soo nice!!! I was laughing when I read you want hadleys outfits in your size ! I think that every morning when I dress avery ha! I have yet to make and cake pops I have made cake balls but got discouraged when they werent as pretty or as good tasting as the starbucks ones ha I am such a perfectionist I hate not being as good as the professionals( thats a lie I want to be better lol!) when me and matt lived in hutsville it was so nice to sit out on our back deck and be able to hear the high school and college football games at the same time and after they were done hear the live music at the jolly fox(if we werent going that night) we love living in small towns!! we can hear the high school games from our house now we just cant see them because of all the huge trees in the naiborhood!
How funny about the stadium. I guess what everyone says about Texas is true! I wish we had a neighborhood like yours. I'm surrounded by elderly people or people who have kiddos in middle/high school. And nobody is social. We're outside all the time (having 5 necessitates such activity), and we almost never have any friendly chit chat with passing people. Okay, pity party over!! Can't wait to see Knox on his big boy bike soon.
The weather looks nice outside for your neighborhood party! The pink and blue cake pops would look beautiful together. I have a baking blog, and ironically I made a few cake balls today and then I found this post! I usually use real chocolate and temper it before dipping. Yours turned out cute and I am sure they were a hit! :)
