Motherhood is Kicking My Butt

So you can see our "Valentine's Card" below, but I thought I'd post again today just to update y'all on the week we've had...

Yep... This pretty much sums it up!

I don't know what the deal is but Knox has been such a, eh- Challenge this week. (That's one word for it at least.) Let's just say I'm reeaallllly missing the grandparents latley. I go to register him for next year's MDO on Wednesday and I swear if Hadley weren't going too I'd put him in the 3 or 5 day program...

I've really been trying to get caught up on cleaning and organizing lately. Especially with several things that have needed to be done since we moved in... But it's like everytime I make progress somewhere, he's one step behind me making twice as much work. Bringing upstairs toys down, "painting" oatmeal all over the table/himself, temper tantrums galore, stripping his clothes off and just throwing them anywhere... I've renamed him my Little Hurricane.

And there's the #2 accidents... Ugh! He's doing great with #1, but poops are about half-and-half and I am soooooooo sick of cleaning out stinky underwear. (I figure 95% of y'all are moms, so I can be real, right???) And my laundry is killing me...

This is the pile he created in just an hour yesterday. And by the end of the day this had doubled. (I left it there just to see how big it could get.) I mean, really...

But enough complaining. I know he's just a normal 2 year old, and I'm blessed that he is healthy and able to make messes and throw fits. It's just been one of those weeks though...

[It makes it easier because they are so cute!]

Not to mention in all the chaos I about lost my mind last Wednesday. I had to run to the post office to drop off some things - which luckily is only 5 minutes away. But right after I dropped my mail I looked in the backseat and Hadley WAS NOT THERE! Oh my gosh - talk about a heartattack! Of course my mind jumps to the worse-case-scenario and I sped the whole way home with my flashers on. Obviously, she was fine. Just sleeping away in her carrier by the door... But I felt/feel like the worst mom in the world!

PS - James told me not to share because someone's gonna call CPS. Ha! I guess I feel I need to punish myself by confessing... ;)

Anyway...

Here's Miss Thing feeding herself banana Puffs for the first time! I had Knox off of babyfood and self-feeding at 10mo and I plan to do her the same. So we're starting early and she's loving them!

James spent all last week/weekend preparing for a trial so we didn't do a whole lot of anything. (Besides all the cleaning of course!) His trial started today which totally figures because he's been in trial and/or out-of-town for every Valentine's we've ever had. (I mentioned that, right...)

Knox - apart from being a mess - is still reeeaaally in to dinosaurs. We've got Dino Dan DVR'd and we were able to add all of the Land Before Time's to our Netflix instant list. He's loving that during his TV time. But it's also gorgeous outside right now, so we're trying to play out of the house as much we can.

And you know how I mentioned I've been tackling long-overdue-projects...

Ta-Dah!!!

Hadley's bedding is now 100% finished. (If you're not up-to-speed - I finished her bumpers just hours before I was induced and my mom put together her quilt.) I figured she's almost 6 months old, so it's time... I vowed this weekend to not start another sewing project until I finshed her crib skirt and minky sheet. I was able to get them both done from start to finish in less than a day. Makes me feel silly for procrastinating on them for so long...

For someone who' never done a sheet or bed skirt before, I was proud of how they turned out! You can see I cheated a little on the skirt ;) I only made 3 sides, and did ball fringe only on the front. Looks great on her bed though! I wanted to get a pic of just the sheet, but Haddie was ready for bed just as soon as I finished it. (And yes, I was totally just tucking the minky fabric around her mattress for the past 6 months. Embarassing...)

Here's to hoping this week is a better one!

I know all moms can relate to this post. My week was going similar to yours it seems like! Just know that you are not alone and that no mom/child are perfect! :)

I love that bed skirt! I agree with Megan also, all moms can relate to this post. My little terror I call him sometimes is in his tantrum stage and it definitely takes some patience. The potty training thing to requires the most patience we have ever had to have with him. I know were you are coming from.

Thanks for sharing. It is good to know that I am not the only one with "challenges". And about leaving Hadley by the front door...I have a similar story:). Have a great day!

Oh sweet girl, you just about gave me a heart attack reading your post. And then I started laughing hysterically at the end after reading she was safe at home. You did noting wrong and actually make me feel so much better about being an absent minded mom. We're all human and it actually makes for a pretty funny story to tell now.

On a separate note: I love her bed skirt. You are sooo talented!

You're HILARIOUS!! I love reading your blog you're so real..HA! I love the bed skirt too. Procrastination is my middle name. I have been putting off making my daughters curtains for about a year and as you know those are so easy! Anyways, keep sharing your mommy moments :)
