Layette Set for WC!

I finally sat down to embroider yesterday for the first time in what seems like forever. Literally, like 5 months, since I did Hadley's newborn set... My friend Britney who's due any day now with #2 had sent me some onsies to do up for little William Cole...

They turned out cute. As fun as little girl stuff is, little boy things are also SO sweet!

[Classic monogram.]

[Double monogram.]

[Britney loved the whale I did for Hadley, so I had to do a boy version for WC!]

[Little man shirt.]

[Love this one!]

[And this just might be my fave. Would be so cute and preppy with a tiny pair of jeans :) ]

[And a couduroy tow truck for Valentine's!]

I loved having a little layette set like this for Hadley. Because they can't really wear anything else besides onesies and sleepers for those first couple of weeks, and she was definitely the best dressed chick in the newborn nursery ;)

I also enjoyed being at my machine again. I used kind of a new "technique" with these applique, and I think it made them turn out so much cleaner looking.

Ok - William, you officially have permission to come out and play! Can't WAIT to meet this little guy.

Those turned out so good! I made a tie shirt out of that same fabric a few weeks ago. Love it! The alligator one is by far my fave!

Those are so cute! Did you use your sewing machine to make them? Where do you get the images? I'd love to whip some of these up for a friend of mine.

Cute little shirts!

I remember a while back, you mentioned somebody off of ebay making Knox's cradle (?) bedding. Do you still happen to have her name? I've never used ebay (I know, shocking right) and wouldn't have the slightest clue as to how you go about finding somebody to do such a thing. As you can tell I'm still finding nothing I like for baby girl's bedding. I guess I'm just too picky by the time number 5 rolls around :-)

I'll check back here in your messages so you don't have to worry about email.

Thanks!!

Sarah & Rosemary - I have an embroidery machine, and that's what I used for these. There is a way to do applique with a sewing machine though. I recommend getting on Goggle and doing a search for "sewing machine applique". You should be able to find some tutorials that way :)

Lara - I have NO idea who I ordered Knox's cradle bedding from, or if she's even still out there since it's been 3 years now... If I were looking for a set right now I'd check on Etsy.com... You could probably find someone to do something custom for you.

Heather - I love this blog...

I tend to just go through her archives and read up on all her applique tips and tricks.

Also Applique Momma has a good tutorial she posted on her FB site...

Hopefully that link will get you there!

Do you use your 4x4 hoop for all this? I have a Brother Innovis 900 but I can never get images that big or that much writing in one.

So cute! I've been working on a set for my little man. Where did you get the font for the whale one and the double applique? I can't find any cards with fonts that I like and my machine has a few different ones, but I'm looking for something fun. I can download individual letters but not do a whole name at a time. Just wondering what you did. Thanks!

Jessica, you did a wonderful job, I guess it is time to get over my fear of my machine and find out what she can do. ;-) Thanks for all the tips that you left in comments.

The Mowats & Jessica - Yes, I use my 4x4 hoop for this. In order to maximize my space - I use an editing program (Sew What Pro, bought online) to position all my images/letters together and merge them in to one file. (Jessica, this is how you combine several letters to sew one name.)

Kristin and Kaycee - Thanks! I'm doing a few "orders" right now for some friends and am thinking of starting an Etsy shop soon. For now it would just be onsies, gowns, and burp clothes.

Just wanted to say thank you for your feedback. The Hubbs and I went out on the town this weekend and found a few pieces to make her bed for now. Though luckily tonight, I had a friend offer to make the quilt for little gal's bedding.

I do love etsy. I browse quite a bit and need to do more shopping there :-)
