I totally changed the TL topic last minute, promised to post it, and then just didn't. And the worst part - I don't even have a good excuse :-/ I wish I could say I was super busy, but I definitely just used my down time yesterday to nap instead of blog. Go ahead... Report me. I'm awful...
And on top of it all - I have absolutely nothing interesting to blog about.
[Other than the fact that I'm just sick and tired of work calling me every 5 minutes asking if I am suuure I can't work tonight... Knox has his Valentine's party at school tomorrow and I have to finish classroom handouts, make 2 dozen heart-shaped cookies, put together muffins and a little something for the teachers. Not to mention we have doctor appointments in the morning, so YES, I'm suuuure I can't work!]
Like I was saying, nothing interesting going on here! So I was relieved when Natalie posted a fun little survey... Easy out for me ;)
1. Fill in the blank. Sometimes I wish my life was more ______.
...in tune with the way God would want it. This is something that's been weighing heavily on my heart for the past few years, and I've really been trying to put forth the effort to be a more Godly woman. But the fact of the matter is... I have issues just TRUSTING Him with details. I don't pray well/enough, I gossip, I covet, and well... I'm just not there yet! But I've come a long way, and Hey... I'm a work in progress!
2. How do you cure the hiccups?
First I hold my breath. And then if I'm really desperate I'll drink water up-side-down.
3. What are three of your favorite indulgences?
- SHOPPING. I've really been trying to work on this one. But you know that feeling you get when you see something to-die-for and you just know if you don't scoop it up right that second you won't be able to find it later and then you'll kick yourself for it... Yeah, I know that reasoning all to well ;)
- ICE CREAM. Birthday Cake from Baskin Robbin's, anyone?
- THE INTERNET. Seriously, I can't believe we ever survived without it. (And cell phones too, for that matter.) I'd choose my computer over the TV anyday. I love my Facebook and Blog, and I tell James they are like my little 'social connection'. Especially since I stay at home and we're now 3 states away from family and friends. Not to mention watching my shows on ABC and NBC.com, online shopping, and Google - the answer to EVERYTHING!
4. Where is the most exotic place you would like to travel to? The most mundane?
Exotic: Anywhere tropical, yet not overly touristy/commercialized. I'm just wary about going out of the states again because the last time my stomach just didn't sit well with un-American food. I mean - they offer 'American' dishes - but everything just has a (ahem) "foreign" taste to it. Then again, I was 7 weeks pregnant...
Mundane: I guess Memphis. Can't get much more mundane than that, but that's where family is, so I always look forward to our trips back :)
5. Does having your time planned out stress you or relax you?
I'm definitely a planner. I'm NOT a just-wing-it kinda girl. But I'm with Nat in that sometimes just thinking about all of my To-Dos in one day can totally stress me out... How will I ever get this done?! Which to tackle first?
6. What are your favorite fabrics to wear?
Cotton. Nothing like a light cotton dress, a good pair of blue jeans, or a boys Polo oxford to lounge around the house in!
7. Do you sleep through the night?
Hardly ever. I'm usually up at least once for a potty break, and I've been known to wake up at 5am, grab a bowl of cereal, play online for a while, then head back to bed.
8. When you were younger, what did you think you would be doing at this age? How close is that to what you are doing?
Good question :) I always knew I'd end up in the medical field. For the longest time I wanted to be a Neonatologist and had the scores to do it, but when I got to college I became a realist and knew that I didn't want to devote the next 12 years of my life to being broke and sacrificing sleep/family/life for residency. So I swallowed my I-wanna-be-a-big-bad-doctor pride and went the Nurse Practitioner route, because I knew I wanted to be a MOMMY more!
Did I ever think I'd be married with a baby living in Texas at 23? Heck no! I always figured if I ever moved away it would be to Savannah, GA. But the good Lord has far greater plans than me, and boy am I glad He does!
9. What has surprised you most about growing up?
Becoming a mother. People tell you how amazing it is, and you think you understand, but until I actually held Knox in my arms I had no idea. What an overwhelming, unselfish, and unconditional love! It makes me want to be a better person just for his sake.
10. Are you good at keeping secrets?
Pretty good :)

I'm a nurse too and I hated when they would call me over and over again asking about coming in to work... NOOO I can't come in! I'm a school nurse now and that is one of the things I love! No more phone calls begging for you to come to work!
