I got about half way around with the final stitching (the top) when the t-shirt got snagged in the machine and I had to cut it out. Lesson Learned: Use a floating piece of stabalizer between your machine and base material! Haha... At least I learned my lesson and it only cost me a $3 t-shirt ;) My second attempt came out much better...

Okay, that's just Knox showing me his cute belly. I couldn't resist...

There we go... See - MUCH cleaner! (And I use that term loosely seeing as how I had to wipe it down after Knox had christened it with his chicken and spinach alfredo.) I just wish my mess-up had been the white shirt :( That green gator was looking TOO cute on the navy and I'd already mentally paired it with some plaid shorts and brown sandals for the spring... But I DO have another cute gator I wanna try that's a little bigger. Hmm, I think I may have to get another navy T!
But you live and learn. I figured something was bound to go wrong, which is why I started out with a very simple design... Today I'm heading back to Joanne's to get a different stabalizer (iron-on), some fabric adhesive, and probably some more swatches because I have over 1000 adorable files that I'm dying to try out! I'm also going to tackle some monogramming, which should be much less complicated than the applique :)
And just for kicks - let's see that sweet belly one more time, Knox...

i really need to get a sewing machine and learn how to sew again! i would love to use it to do so many cool things - curtains, removeable pillow cases, aprons!
you're going to be an applique-ing machine in no time!
Hi! Where do you find your appliques? Online? I have the hardest time finding cute ones for my little girl! Thanks!
I am so glad you are posting what you are making, I wanted to get that sewing machine about a month ago but got scared. I dont know if it will be too hard or if I will even know what I am doing! So keep posting so I can get the hang of it and go buy one!
Thanks!
Such a cute belly!
