a favorite!

As luck would have it, this year James birthday falls on Father's Day. So since I'm working Sunday night, we celebrated double on Saturday.

Trying to be a good wifey, I gave him his choice on any dinner he wanted. And what did he pick???

Chili dogs. (I mean seriously???)

So after nuking him a hotdog and a can of chili (*sigh*), I decided to at least make something decent for dessert:

My MeeMaw's recipe for Cobbler

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 cup milk
1 stick of butter
1 can fruit pie filling

{1} Melt butter and pour into the bottom of a loaf pan.
{2} In a seperate bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Stir in milk.
{3} Pour batter in to loaf pan, OVER the butter.
{4} Pour pie filling OVER the batter. Do not stir. (The batter will rise above the fruit as it cooks. Promise.)
{5} Bake at 350 for 1hr to 1hr 15min. Let cool at least 10-15 minutes. Serve with a scoop of ice cream!

I love this one (1) for it's buttery, cinnamon & nutmeg crust, and (2) because you can use absolutely any pie filling you want!

My favorites are strawberry, blueberry, & apple. In that order.
We had blueberry =)
