{1} Where do I get my blog layout?
I actually do these myself in Photoshop using digital scrapbook kits (most from Etsy) and Photobucket. I wish there was an easy way for me to tell y'all how to do it, but it kind of just takes time, practice, and a whole lotta Googling ;) It is kind of time consuming though, so if I were a less stubborn person it'd be so much easier just to pay someone else to do it for me. There are a lot of really good designers out there who can give you a custom look!
{2} Where do we live?
I've chosen to keep exact specifics on where we live, our last name, etc. private. For safety reasons and to maintain a level of professionalism and annonymity for James' career... I'm sure some people probably know the general area we're in, and others could find out if they worked hard (hopefully they're no creepers like that though!), and that's all fine. Like I said - just don't want to volunteer specifics :)
{3} Embroidery?
I get a lot of questions on this... You can find answers about my machines, how I embroider/applique, where I get designs, and many other little tips {HERE}. And if that doesn't anser your question, feel free to e-mail me!
As far as doing things for hire, as of I now I stay pretty busy doing things for myself, friends, and family, so that's not in the cards for me just yet... However if it ever is, y'all will be the first to know!
{4} What camera do I use?
James and I were given a Canon Rebel as a wedding gift and it has worked perfectly for what we use it for. Although I could probably stand to take a beginners photography class to figure out more of the manual modes. Some day...
{5} Where do I get the kids smocked/boutique clothes and Hadley's bows?
I love dressing my kids in sweet smocked/boutique type things, but refuse to pay boutique prices. I've found some really great sites that offer these type clothing for reasonable prices. In fact, I've created a post just for this with links to my favorite sites (see link below). I especially love Zulily and those Facebook auction-sale shops. You can get some really good deals on those! Go check my list out...
{Where We Shop}
As far as bows - I bought a PDF bow-making tutorial off Etsy before I had Hadley and that, along with some general internet research, did a great job teaching me the basics. Although, for good technique it just takes a lot of practice... I make all of Hadley's more specific, boutique-type bows, and a lot of her bow bands. (Look for stretchy lace and bra-strap type elastic at the fabric store...) I get all her crocheted bow bands at Hobby Lobby for $1 each.
For her extra-big, solid bows - I actually get those at a local boutique here for like $7-8 apeice. Just beacause we wear them SO much and they're made with a better quality ribbon than I can get at Joann's or HL so they lay prettier and hold up better.
{6} Where did all my Recipe Cards go and how did I make them?
A while back ago I was really in to putting all my favorite recipes on digital cards and sharing them with y'all. Like my blog layouts - I made them in Photoshop using digital scrapbook kits. It's kind of gotten away from me since, but I've compiled the links to all these cards in to one post - check it out {HERE}.
I also have so many recipes on this blog that haven't made it on to cards. (It's bad when you have to pull up your blog to make a meal...) Anyway you can click on "Recipes" in my label cloud on my side bar to find those :)
{6} Why "Love from Texas"?
It's kind of funny that this name has caught on like it has because it literally came down to me trying to think of a name that described the purpose of our blog, without including our family name. I couldn't think of anything clever, so I figured my blog began as a way to keep the family back home up to date on us, so I chose 'Love from Texas' kind of like we were signing off on a letter sent back home... Love from Texas, Jess...
Ok, that's all I can think of for now, but I'll add stuff as it comes to me. Hope this clears up some questions for y'all :)
